Greenwood’s Ryan Glover talks about the economics of building a black business at MinRegion Live event in Atlanta

MinRegion Live is proud to announce a fireside chat with Ryan Glover, Co-Founder of Greenwood Bank, as part of our MinRegion Live: Atlanta virtual event on June 7.

Glover will sit down with me, Dominic-Madori Davis, at 2:05 p.m. EDT to discuss the “economics of equality” – a conversation about the history of financial inequality within the black community and how the Atlanta-based Greenwood team is working to the opportunity for communities that have been economically discriminated against.

Greenwood Bank has become one of the most well-known black-owned financial services companies in the country. Founded by Killer Mike, Andrew Young, and Glover shortly after the 2020 murder of George Floyd, the bank is known for its commitment to social justice. It is named in homage to the neighborhood once considered “Black Wall Street” in Tulsa, which white supremacists burned down in the 1920s. Shortly before this massacre, Atlanta had its own massacre, where the black community, on the verge of economic success, burned to the ground.

The story of building generational wealth and running a black business has always been one of trying, building, trying and rebuilding. That’s what makes institutions like Greenwood so important to the community; it’s what makes his enduring effort so important. Maybe in that case it’s a hint that it will be different this time.

Meet us here online at MinRegion to chat and see with Glover.

This fireside is part of the larger Atlanta startup community program. Atlanta has long been home to a vibrant ecosystem of entrepreneurs and investors, and we’re excited to shine the spotlight on the area at this three-hour event.
